PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle drive controller and a method therefor capable of eliminating a problem associated with magnetic field control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor.SOLUTION: Provided is an electric vehicle drive controller for controlling the torque of a permanent magnet synchronous motor 12 for driving an electric vehicle 11 by a PWM inverter device 15, wherein the PWM inverter device 15 has means 25 for detecting that the speed of the permanent magnet synchronous motor 12 is greater than or equal to a base speed or the load voltage thereof is greater than or equal to a base voltage, means 26 for detecting that the speed has exceeded the base speed or the voltage has exceeded the base voltage, and a 1/2-power function generator 27 whose input is an excess signal, the PWM inverter device 15 exerting necessary torque control, while exerting output limiting control of the permanent magnet synchronous motor 12, by causing a necessary current limiting command value to be generated from the 1/2-power function generator 27 and algebraically adding the current limiting command value to a current command value of a torque control device 29 of the PWM inverter device 15. |
