PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for elimination of residual potential on an intermediate transfer body while suppressing generation of scumming and increase in the travel distance of the intermediate transfer body even after an image formation (printing) on a small-sized transfer material whose width is narrower than the maximum width of a transfer material among transfer materials which can be conveyed to a secondary transfer part.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a control section 35 including a CPU36 which, after an image is transferred from an intermediate transfer belt 7 to a sheet, executes a control to drive the intermediate transfer belt 7 for a travel distance A which is from a part of the intermediate transfer belt 7 contacting with a photoreceptor drum positioned most downstream in the conveyance direction of the intermediate transfer belt 7 to reaching the secondary transfer part 10a, and in the meantime, to flow -10μA of a secondary transfer current having a reverse-polarity to a secondary transfer bias for transferring the image to the sheet at the secondary transfer part 10a, when the sheet conveyed to the secondary transfer part 10a is small-sized having the width narrower than the maximum width of a sheet among sheets which can be conveyed to the secondary transfer part 10a. |
