In order to suppress a residual image, even when fluorescence detection intervals are reduced, and acquire a high resolution fluorescent image, provided is a scanning observation device (1) comprising: a scanning unit (3) which spatially scans pulse-shaped excitation light generated in specific temporal intervals from a light source (2) onto a specimen; a fluorescence detection unit (4) which synchronizes, with the generation of the excitation light, fluorescent light generated by fluorescent matter in the specimen (A) being excited due to the excitation light scanned by the scanning unit (3), and detects same; and a fluorescence correction unit (5) which, for each scanning position, subtracts, from the fluorescence detected by the fluorescence detection unit (4), residual image fluorescence components calculated on the basis of sequential fluorescence detected previously by the fluorescence detection unit (4), and corrects the strength of the fluorescence in the scanning position. |
