The apparatus has a guide element (60) that is arranged between a feed roller (16) and a mandrel (19). The cross-section of a strip of filter material between the mandrel and the guide element in the region of a mandrel projection (19a) of the mandrel is reduced. A transport nozzle is acted upon with the compressed air with a guide tube (18) that is arranged in the longitudinally extended mandrel. A non-driven feed roller (16) is arranged directly at an output of the transport nozzle. A tread (17) partially defines the conveying path of the strip of filter material. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a filter rod in a tobacco-processing industry.
