Disclosed is a method and apparatus for controlling a photovoltaic capacity. The apparatus for controlling the photovoltaic capacity includes a system fault sensing unit which generates sensing information by sensing a system voltage; and a light shielding unit which entirely or partially shields a panel area of a photovoltaic panel which is a shading area determined by corresponding to the sensing information.
