<p>Runflat device (2), and method of fitting a runflat insert device. The improved runflat device (2) comprises a chain of segments (4) which is flexible enough to be manipulated for fitting, whilst also being laterally stable to ensure correct positioning and to avoid misalignment when tightening onto a wheel. The fitting method initially expands the runflat device (2) within the cavity of the tyre (52), retaining the runflat (2) securely in place against the inside of the tyre's tread area. This advantageously leaves the beads of the tyre (52) unobstructed for fitting to a wheel.</p> |
