PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing (meth)acrylic acid capable of producing (meth)acrylic acid at high yield, stably over a long time by preventing clogging of reactors or the like and reduction in catalytic activity, when producing (meth)acrylic acid from a raw material composition containing a polymer of 3-hydroxy carboxylic acid.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of producing (meth)acrylic acid from a raw material composition containing a polymer of 3-hydroxy carboxylic acid including (a) a decomposition process for producing a decomposition product of the polymer, and (b) a dehydration process for producing (meth)acrylic acid by contacting the decomposition product with a dehydration catalyst.
