The invention relates to a method for generating an audio signal (02) for a synthetic noise of a motor vehicle. The invention further relates to said audio signal (02) for the synthetic noise of a motor vehicle. In a step of the method according to the invention, a signal (01) is provided which represents a noise. Furthermore, a fundamental frequency is determined which represents an operating rotational speed of the motor vehicle. In another step, multiple filters are applied to the signal (01) of the noise. Each of the filters has a central frequency which is linked to the determined fundamental frequency by a factor of order. At least a plurality of the factors of order are whole numbers such that said filters filter harmonics of the fundamental frequency. The factors of order and amplitude curves of the filters are selected in a manner corresponding to a sound characteristic of the motor vehicle noise to be synthesized. The noise signal (02) which is evaluated by the filters constitutes the audio signal (02) for the synthetic noise of the motor vehicle dependent on the operating rotational speed of the motor vehicle. |
