In the present invention, with a simple structure, a mast is raised upright during installation and maintenance, and stress between the mast and a bottom carriage is reduced during normal travel. A stacker crane (2) is provided with: a bottom carriage (4) having a drive wheel (22), a travel motor (24), and a support part (28) positioned apart from the drive wheel (22); a top carriage (6) having a drive wheel (40) and a travel motor (41) for driving the drive wheel (40); and a mast (8) secured to the bottom carriage (4), rising upward from the bottom carriage (4) to connect to the top carriage (6), and having a transfer device (10) attached so as to be capable of rising and falling. A displacement mechanism for raising and lowering a support part (28) is provided to the bottom carriage (4) between a grounded position of being supported by a bottom rail (12) and a retracted position of having been lifted off the bottom rail (12). The support part (28) is lowered to the grounded position when the stacker crane (2) is installed on the bottom rail (12) and the top rail (14) and when the stacker crane (2) is stopped for maintenance purposes, and the support part (28) is raised to the retracted position when the stacker crane (2) is operated. |
