In the present invention, a driving assistance device is provided with the following: an image pickup unit for picking up an image of the periphery of a vehicle; an image processing unit for processing an image picked up by the image pickup unit and generating a display image; and a display unit for displaying the display image generated by the image processing unit. The image processing unit, in a case where set conditions are not satisfied, generates from the images picked up by the image pickup unit a display image in which the visibility of a display region corresponding to a first region which is an image pickup region far from the vehicle is set to be lower than the visibility of a display region corresponding to a second region which is an image pickup region close to the vehicle, and in a case where the set conditions are satisfied, generates a display image in which the visibility of the display region corresponding to the first region is improved compared to the case where the set conditions are not satisfied. |
