摘要 Advertisers target their advertisements to videos that, although not yet popular, are predicted to become popular in the near future. A video's popularity is measured by a number of users that have added the video to their list of favorite videos. A statistical model is formed to predict a video's favoriting velocity by analyzing a set of videos and related inputs using techniques such as classification and regression trees and logistic regression. The model is then applied to newer videos to determine a likelihood that the video will go viral. An advertising engine associates videos having a high likelihood of going viral with advertising creatives provided by advertisers for that purpose. A premium advertising fee is charged to advertisers in some embodiments in order to be associated with viral videos.
