An electronics structure comprising a frame 32 that accepts one or more electric/electronics modules 30 where a barrier 64, 64, 74 to fine particles is arranged between the module 30 and frame 30 so that an area Z1, Z2 is defined in the structure isolated from the exterior. The structure is preferably an avionics rack accepting E & E modules; the rear of the modules having electrical connectors mating (Di) with connectors at the inner rear face of the rack. The modules preferably carry the barrier as a peripheral dust / debirs seal 64, 64, 74 and there are preferably at least a pair of seals, one near the front 64 and one near the rear 64, 74 of the module. These seals circle the top, bottom and side walls to give a peripheral barrier (fig 3). The seals can provide a first area Z1 that can isolate the rear electrical connectors from the exterior of the rack. Between the seals is a second isolated area Z2 which preferably includes air cooling inlets 96 and outlets 98 for the module. |
