<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus and image display method with which a clearly visible image can be output to an external monitor even if a monitor to which an image is output is switched to the external monitor while a viewer is watching and listening to a three-dimensional image output to a built-in monitor. <P>SOLUTION: A built-in/external monitor determination section 19 obtains a monitor type of a monitor to which a viewed image is output. A two-dimensional broadcast/three-dimensional broadcast determination section determines whether the viewed image is a two-dimensional image or a three-dimensional image. When the viewed image is a three-dimensional image, a conversion control section 15a controls a three-dimensional format conversion section 15 to stop conversion processing to output the three-dimensional image while the viewed image is output to an external monitor 21, on the other hand, the conversion control section 15a controls the three-dimensional format conversion section 15 to conduct the conversion processing to output the three-dimensional image while the viewed image is output to a built-in monitor 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
