摘要 The end port regenerative furnace 10 comprises a combustion chamber 14, first and second regenerators 24,26 in communication with the chamber via first and second ports 24A,26A at a charging end of the furnace, and first and second lances 20,22 in the half of the furnace furthest from the charging end. The first regenerator cycles between a firing mode (figure 1) where fuel is injected proximate preheated combustion air passing through the first port into the chamber, and an exhaust mode (figure 2) where products of combustion are exhausted from the chamber through the first port. The second regenerator cycles similarly between the firing (figure 2) and exhaust (figure 1) modes. When the first regenerator is in the firing mode, the first lance operates in a fuel gas mode where it injects only fuel gas and the second lance operates in an oxygen mode where it injects only oxygen. When the first regenerator cycles to the exhaust mode, the first lance switches to oxygen mode and the second lance switches to fuel gas mode. The lances maybe arranged so that no pure oxygen or pure fuel gas is injected into the third of the combustion chamber closest the charging end.
