Method of cascade active control of hydrodynamic sliding bearings by piezo actuators and apparatus for making the same

The invented method of and apparatus for active control of hydrodynamic sliding bearings with a moving bushing (1) expands operating speed by making use of an electronic stabilization feedback mediated by piezo actuators (7, 8), which control position controllers (20, 21). Their required values (22, 23) are output of a two-parameter controller (17) with input from shaft (2) position relative to the bearing housing. The bushing (1) is moved by two piezo actuators (7, 8) located on sides of the shafts (2). The first piezo actuator (7) is situated in a plane perpendicular to the shaft (2) axis. The other piezo actuator (8) is also situated in the plane perpendicular to the shaft axis (2), but angularly displaced by 90 degrees relative to the first piezo actuator (7). The movement of the bushing (1) relative to the bearing housing is enabled by elastic elements (9, 10).The shaft (2) position relative to the bearing housing (1) can be determined in two mutually perpendicular directions by means of two approach sensors (3, 4), which are situated on sides of the shaft (2). The first approach sensor (3) is located in a plane perpendicular to the shaft (2) axis. The other approach sensor (4) is also located in the plane perpendicular to the shaft (2) axis, but angularly displaced by 90 degrees relative to the first sensor (3). Control deviations (15, 16) result from the comparison of so-called required positions (13, 14) of the shaft (2) in two directions. These positions (13, 14) are compared with actual positions being determined by means of the approach sensors (5, 6). The observed deviations (15, 16) enter in the two-parameter controller (17).
