The laminate is formed by applying pressure to a veneer 33, curable material 40 and porous material 44, and preferably a metal frame 46, another porous material 48, curable material 52 and veneer 54. The veneer 33, 54 is preferably wood. Preferably, the thermosetting, curable, sheet moulding compound (SMC) 40, 52 flows into the veneer 33, 54 during the heating and pressing step. Preferably, gas or vapour is displaced from the porous, open cell foam 44, 48. The laminate can be used as a door, building panel, furniture, vehicle fitting, window or picture frame, or bowl. |
