[Class 38 (i)] A lamp-holder comprises a moulded recessed base 1 in which are provided parallel ribs 6 upstanding from one face near an opening 4 in the base, the ribs 6 defining locating channels for the terminal clips 8, 9, 10, 11 which pass through the opening 4 and engage the other face of the base, and a shoulder 10 is provided on each clip which is U-shaped to grip the base portion between the ribs which is raised at 5 to provide an abutment 7 for each shoulder. The clips have depending portions 11 which engage the contacts of a lamp 12. One clip may have an extension 14 to which a lead 13 may be attached in a hump 16 or a socket (Fig. 4, not shown) and a U-shaped contact 20 may slide on to the top of a bridge 19 which is mounted near one rib 6 and receives a bowed spring strip 17, thereby constituting a switch. The strip 17 slides within the bridge so as to engage a limb 22 of the contact 20 and to mount a cam face 18 on the adjacent rib 6 to abut the limb 8 of the terminal clip between the ribs. A projection 25 on the strip 17 limits its travel in the " off direction. The contact 20 has a hump 21 or a socket (Fig. 4, not shown) which receives another lead 23 and both leads 13, 23 are looped round lugs 27 on the base to ease strain on the connections. A translucent cover 28 may be held in position by springing the hooks 29 thereon into apertures 30 in the base. In a modification, Fig. 7, the strip 17 is pivoted on the bridge 19 and has a contact pimple 17a which engages the adjacent terminal clip at the shoulder. According to the Provisional Specification a bayonet joint lampholder may be moulded with the base and slotted and grooved to permit the terminal clips to be secured in position. |
