PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper alloy wire especially having high strength, excellent in stress relaxation characteristics and fatigue characteristics and suitable for application to a suspension wire or the like. SOLUTION: A high-strength copper alloy wire and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. The high-strength copper alloy wire contains 0.6-1.2 mass% Si, 0.2-1.5 mass% Sn and Ni, wherein the total content of Ni+Si+Sn is 3.7 mass% or more, and the balance being Cu and inevitable impurities, and has a tensile strength of not less than 1300 MPa.
