The traction control system comprises a first traction wheel (2a, 2b) forming part of a first propulsion system (12) comprising a first propulsion unit (4) and a second traction wheel (7a, 7b) forming part of a second propulsion system (13) comprising a second propulsion unit (6a, 6b). The system further includes at least one sensor (10a, 10b, 10c) indicating vehicle speed and/or wheel speed for at least one wheel (2a, 2b, 7a, 7b, 11a, 11b) and a control unit (9) for controlling said first (4) and second (6a, 6b) propulsion units and connected to the at least one sensor. According to the invention, the system is provided with an automatic rocking free function for releasing a vehicle which is stuck. The method comprises the steps of detecting if the vehicle is stuck, starting up the automatic rocking free function wherein the first and second propulsion systems (12, 13) are independently controlled to rocking free the vehicle by alternating forward and backward traction and ending the function when the vehicle no longer is stuck. |
