The air-permeable layer (120) is arranged on a base plate (110) with uniform openings (115) which are fluidly connected with a vacuum pump (118) at a lower surface of the base plate. The air-permeable layer is arranged between a work piece and an upper side of the base plate. Sealing elements (140, 142) are on a side of the layer facing the work piece. The sealing elements form a set of closed, sealed suction regions (145) between the work piece and base plate.
