A lighting apparatus and a control method thereof are disclosed in the present specification. An embodiment of the lighting apparatus according to the present invention comprises a control unit for registering a network of the lighting apparatus; a gateway for broadcasting a first message for registering the network of nodes connected to lighting units to a routing path through a first channel; a first node including the nodes of the lighting units, for searching a neighboring node (second node) by broadcasting a second message when the first message broadcasted to the routing path is not received, and for transmitting a third message to request network registration to the searched second node; and the second node for allocating a second channel to communicate with the first node and for registering the network in the control unit through the gateway and the allocated second channel.
