The present invention discloses a light emitting diode which includes a substrate and a cell array comprising a plurality of unit cells, arranged and formed on the substrate. The cell array may have a cross section in the shape of a polygon having at least one internal angle smaller or larger than 90°. Moreover, the cell array comprising a plurality of unit cells has characteristics of high voltage light emitting diodes of which unit cells are connected in series. When the shape of the cell array has the internal angle smaller or larger than 90°, light emitting properties are enhanced; an area of the light emitting diode as the high voltage light emitting diode has an increased efficiency.
