<p>An article of headgear (30) comprising a structure (1) that includes an optical system which transmits visual information from an electronic display (20) to a near eye optical element via at least two further optical elements. The near eye element presents a viewable image to the wearer of the helmet. The optical elements may be mirrors or lenses. The pivotably mounted electronic display (20) may include organic light emitting diodes (OLEDS) (25) or be an EVD. The headwear can also include a camera or a controller with communication means. There can be an electrical energy store and an inductive charging module (27) to deliver charge to the energy store. An electrical energy generating means in the form of photovoltaic cells (32) or micro turbines (33) might be included. The display shows useful information such as a fuel level warning, a blind spot presence indicator or rear view images.</p> |
