摘要 A compound of formula (I): Preferably, the reducing sugar unit is a reducing monosaccharide such as D-glucose, D-galactose or D mannose. In another aspect, a copper complex of the chelator molecule. The chelator molecule may be prepared by reacting an optionally protected azide-functionalised reducing sugar with tripropargylamine. A source of copper (I) may also be present and/or a reducing agent such as ascorbate. The reaction preferably occurs in aqueous conditions and is preferably conducted at alkaline pH. In another aspect, a method for promoting a copper (I) catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC) wherein a an azide, an alkyne and a source of copper (I) ions are contacted with the chelator molecul or copper complex thereof.
