The device has an electrolytic cell (18) that is provided with an anode and a cathode, and connected with an underside of a long-stretched band-like carrier (14). A separation device is arranged in a top surface of the carrier to partially form boundary of treatment chambers (34,36) to receive a to-be-treated article (12). The separation device is selectively arranged in top surface of carrier or removed from top surface of carrier, such that the to-be-treated article is moved along top surface of the carrier. An independent claim is included for a method for performing continuous electrochemical treatment of article.
