An electrical pathway marker (1, 2), which is a part of floor or wall tiling. The pathway marker comprises at least two overlapping panel elements (11, 21, 12), namely an upper panel element (11, 21), having an upper surface (11a) and a lower surface (lib), and a lower panel element (12). A light source element (8) in the shape of the desired marker sign (3, 4) is between or under the panel elements (11, 21, 12) for forming the luminous marker sign (3, 4). A translucent layer or surface (13) blocks the visibility of the light source element (8) in external light, but allows the light emitted by the light source element (8) to be visible through the upper panel element (11, 21). The pathway marker is provided with a control device (5) for switching the light source element (8) on or off or for changing the marker sign (3, 4). The translucent layer or surface (13, 16b) is a white background layer or background surface located in the lower part, on the lower surface or below the upper panel element (11, 21). Above the translucent background layer or background surface (13, 16b), inside or on the upper surface of the upper panel element (11, 21), is an outward appearance pattern (11c, 11c') which is visible in external light, but allows the light emitted by the light source element to be visible through the outward appearance pattern (11c, 11c'). |
