PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic converter in which NOx purification performance is excellent while a noble metal catalyst volume is reduced.SOLUTION: A catalytic converter 10 includes: a base material 1 of a cell structure in which exhaust gas circulates; and a catalyst layer 3 that is formed on a surface of a cell wall 2 of the base material 1, wherein the catalyst layer 3 includes: a first catalyst layer 4 that is disposed in an upstream of a flow direction of the exhaust gas; and a second catalyst layer 5 that is disposed in a downstream of a flow direction of the exhaust gas in the base material 1, the first catalyst layer 4 is formed by a carrier and rhodium that is a noble metal catalyst supported by the carrier, the second catalyst layer 5 is formed by a carrier and palladium or platinum that is a noble metal catalyst supported by the carrier, the first catalyst layer 4 is formed in a range of 80-100% of the entire length of the base material making an end part of an upstream of the base material 1 an origin, and the second catalyst layer 5 is formed in a range of 20-50% of the entire length of the base material making an end part of a downstream of the base material 1 an origin. |
