PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unify the temperature distribution of the principal plane of a recording element substrate in an in-plane direction.SOLUTION: The recording head comprises: a recording element substrate 101 having a discharge opening group for discharging ink and a supply port 102 for supplying ink to the discharge opening group; and a supporting member 201 having a liquid chamber 203 holding ink inside to support the recording element substrate 101. A rear face channel 205 through which the ink flows along the rear face of the recording element substrate 101 with the opening of the supply port 102 is formed between the liquid chamber 203 and the supply port 102. The liquid chamber 203 communicates with the rear face channel 205 via a plurality of through holes 204. A region where temperature is relatively higher in an in-plane direction of the rear face of the recording element substrate 101 has a larger total sum of the opening areas of the plurality of through holes 204 per unit area than that in a region where temperature is relatively lower in the in-plane direction of the rear face of the recording element substrate 101.
