PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain information indicating the exact position of a mobile object and the exact direction of the mobile object.SOLUTION: A mobile object (robot 10) captures an environment side base station 40 near an antenna array axis of a mobile object side base station (robot side base station 20) when being present at a first position near an antenna array axis of the environment side base station 40, and proceeds straight ahead while keeping a predetermined angleφwith respect to the direction of the environment side base station 40 being captured from the first position, thereby arriving at a second position near other antenna array axis of the environment side base station 40. In the above proceeding, the mobile object measures a movement distance L from when leaving the first position to when arriving at the second position, and obtains its own current position or a direction to which the mobile object itself is currently facing based on the angleφand the movement distance L. A plurality of antenna groups are preferably provided in the environment side base station 40 so that each of their coordinate axes is shifted by a predetermined angle (for example 45°), in relation to one another.
