PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for suppressing a change in appearance of a display color due to a change in ambient light, and for suppressing the deterioration of display luminance due to the suppression of a change in appearance of the display color.SOLUTION: A display device configured to display an image by reflecting ambient light by a reflection rate based on an image signal comprises: determination means for determining a reference white color on the basis of the spectrum of the ambient light and the reflection characteristics of the display device; and generation means for generating an image signal for display from an input image signal on the basis of the spectrum of the ambient light, the reflection characteristics of the display device and the reference white color determined by the determination means. The determination means determines the color of reflected light to be obtained from a pixel value whose reflectivity is higher than that of an ambient color pixel value as a pixel value in which the color of the reflected light is coincident with the color of the ambient light as the reference white color, and the generation means generates an image signal for display such that appearance when the pointed color of an input image signal is viewed under the reference white color satisfies predetermined conditions. |
