PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a natural image with a wide dynamic-range similar to an appearance viewed by a human being.SOLUTION: In an image processing apparatus, an exposure determination unit 201 divides an inputted image into plural subject areas and calculates the exposures of the respective subject areas on the basis of the respective luminance relations in the subject areas. An area-by-area exposure image imaging unit 207 acquires plural images for synthesis, with respective calculated exposures, and an image synthesis unit 211 synthesizes the images for synthesis to generate a sheet of synthetic image. In image synthesis, the plural images for synthesis are switched in accordance with the plural subject areas to output a synthetic image of exposures corresponding to the subject areas. |
