PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior coating material for being wound around a wire harness, which has new shielding properties and a route regulating function.SOLUTION: An exterior coating method includes: winding a nonwoven fabric around the outer peripheral surface of a plurality of electric wire groups constituting the wire harness; covering the outer peripheral surface of the nonwoven fabric with a metal braid material formed of a metal braided sheet or a metal braided tube; impregnating the nonwoven fabric with an ultraviolet curing resin; subsequently irradiating the wire harness with ultraviolet rays while keeping the wire harness in a shape meeting a routing path; and curing the nonwoven fabric and the metal braid material into a required shape.
