PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food inspection device and method which can easily and surely detect a damaged portion of a natural food in nondestructive and noncontact manners. ! SOLUTION: A food inspection device 10 includes: an infrared detector 11 for detecting infrared 2 which is radiated from each portion of a natural food 1 in response to temperature; a surface temperature image generator 12 for generating a surface temperature image 15 of the natural food 1 on the basis of the infrared 2 detected by the infrared detector 11; and a display 13 for displaying the surface temperature image 15.
