PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal level detector capable of directly detecting a molten metal level and minimizing an installation space. ! SOLUTION: A molten metal level detector 10 comprises: a detection section 11 which includes a magnetic yoke provided outside a side wall 1a of a container 1 for containing molten metal 2 covering nearly all the area in the height direction of the container 1 in order to arrange magnetic lines M in the container 1 penetrating through the side wall 1a and a magnetic coil 13 wound around the magnetic yoke 12; a power source 14 for applying an AC current to the magnetic coil 13; and a control section 15 for acquiring impedance of the magnetic coil 13 to which the AC current is applied and identifying a level of molten metal contained by the container 1 on the basis of the acquired impedance. !
