PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten an adjustment time of a yaw angle by allowing the yaw angle to be efficiently adjusted, and to improve adjustment accuracy of the yawn angle.SOLUTION: In a separate type encoder 100 in which an ABS track 106 juxtaposed to an INC track 104 is further provided in a scale 102, and a detection head 110 includes an ABS detection section 114 for reading the ABS track 106, the separate type encoder comprises: a computation section 120 that calculates a yawn angle &phgr; of the detection head 110 with respect to the scale 102 from a gap d between an INC detection section 112 and the ABS detection section 114, and an amount δ of a difference between a position Xinc of the ABS track 106 detected by the INC detection section 112 and a position Xabs of the ABS track 106 detected by the ABS detection section 114, and calculates signal intensity I from two-phase sinusoidal signals Am and Bm from the INC detection section 112; and a display section 124 that displays the signal intensity I respectively corresponding to a plurality of yawn angles &phgr; and the yawn angle &phgr;. |
