PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus including a charging device by a contact charging system applying a voltage in which an AC voltage is superimposed on a DC voltage, in which the residual potential increase of an electrophotographic photoreceptor is suppressed.SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus comprising: a charging device 208 coming into direct contact with an electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 and applying the voltage in which the AC voltage is superimposed on the DC voltage, to charge the electrophotographic photoreceptor; an electrostatic latent image forming device 210; a developing device 211; and a transfer device 212, as the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7, an electrophotographic photoreceptor which includes a conductive substrate, an undercoat layer provided on the conductive substrate and containing a binder resin, metal oxide particles, and an electron accepting material, and a photoreceptive layer provided on the undercoat layer and in which when the impedance of the undercoat layer is measured at the AC voltage being in the range of 1 MHz to 1 mHz, the maximum point of the phase difference &thetas; of the impedance is within the range of a frequency more than 0.15 Hz and less than 0.3 Hz is applied. |
