PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated paper for offset printing that has good white paper quality sich as whiteness, opacity and the like though it has a low unit weight and has good surface quality.SOLUTION: The coated paper for offset printing has a coating layer comprising a pigment and an adhesive formed on both sides of a base paper and has a basis weight of not more than 55 g/m, an opacity of coated paper of not less than 86% and a whiteness of coated paper of not less than 71% to less than 78%. The pigment comprises, as an essential component, kaolin clay which is contained in an amount of 20-65 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the pigment and which has an aspect ratio (thickness/diameter) of 1:10 to 1:45. The whiteness of coated paper is higher than that of base paper and the difference in whiteness between the coated paper and the base paper is 7-15%. The absorption coefficient of the base paper is not less than 35 cm/g. |
