<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear for an internal combustion engine, capable of improving the fuel consumption performance of the internal combustion engine by reducing the generating power of an actuator.SOLUTION: A cam for changing the moving position of a control shaft is actuated to be rotated by an electric motor. On the cam face of the cam, a shape change region and a shape hold region are formed where the diameter of the cam is gradually increased as the cam is rotated in one direction and where the diameter of the cam is gradually increased after gradually reduced as the cam is rotated in one direction, respectively. A roller connected to the control shaft is pushed against the cam face. When the operation part of the cam changes from the hold region into the change region (S100:YES) and the direction of rotating the cam during the change into the change region is the direction of reducing the diameter of the cam (S101:YES), the execution mode of the actuating control of the electric motor is switched over between before the change into the change region and after the change into the change region to make generating power (S103) of the electric motor in the hold region greater than generating power (S104) thereof in the change region.</p> |
