PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of reducing a variation in heat generation history in heating means.SOLUTION: A fixing device includes a fixing member 21, an opposing member 22 that is brought into contact with the fixing member 21 to form a nip part, and heating means for heating the fixing member. The heating means can change a heating range over a width direction of a recording medium P on the basis of image information formed on the recording medium P. The fixing device changes the heating range of the heating means over the width direction of the recording medium P in fixing a plurality of recording media P on which the same images are respectively formed.
