[Class 4] [Also in Group XXIV] On an aircraft, an auxiliary-drive gear-box 41, driven from the engine through a universally-jointed shaft 2c and having several (four shown) flanged attachment points 42, 43, to mount the auxiliary parts, has in addition at least one auxiliary extension shaft 51d drivingly connecting one attachment point with an independently mounted auxiliary or an auxiliary gear-box not directly mounted on the main gear-box 41. A universal joint driving the extension shaft may be associated either with that shaft or with the main gearbox 41, and the mounting-flange may include a casing 54, housing a pair of bevels for an angled drive, as shown, or the shaft 2c, 51d may be aligned. The three-angled auxiliary drive-shafts 42, 43, on the main gear-box are driven by bevels meshing a common bevel on the engine-shaft 2c. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also the telescopic universallyjointed shaft shown in Specification 616,781, [Group XXIV], and shows the mounting arrangement of the auxiliary gear-box shown in that Specification. Several internal arrangements of auxiliary gear-boxes are also shown, these forming the subject-matter of Specifications 652,406 and 652,407. Fig. 20 (Cancelled) provides one of the auxiliary-drive sockets 77 with a disc-clutch 80 operated by turning a hand wheel 81 to declutch the auxiliary concerned. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
