摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption while preventing abnormal combustion.SOLUTION: In a spark ignition type engine according to the present invention, control means (30) controls an intake variable mechanism (18a) so that a valve overlap amount OL that is a period during which both of an intake valve 8 and an exhaust valve 9 are opened is sequentially changed in a first region A1 set to a partial load area of an engine, a second region A2 whose load is higher than that of the first region A1, and a third region A3 whose load is higher than the second region A2. When compared under such a condition that a rotation speed of the engine is identical, the valve overlap amounts OL in the first region A1 and the third region A3 are set larger than that in the second region A2.
