PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital data transmission apparatus and reception apparatus that are satisfactorily tolerant of noise.SOLUTION: A transmission apparatus 10 of the present invention includes: an error correction coding section 12 for performing concatenated coding by an LDPC code with a code rate set individually for each bit of symbol forming bits and a BCH code; a mapping section 14 for converting the symbol forming bits by set partitioning to a signal point series; and a quadrature modulation section 15 for quadrature-modulating the signal point series. The LDPC code has a predetermined number of code rates determined in accordance with bit-specific correction capabilities, and the code rate set for each bit of the symbol forming bits is set to such a code rate as makes the correction capability of the second and subsequent bits of the symbol forming bits equivalent to desired C/N of the first bit. A reception apparatus 20 of the present invention receives a modulated wave signal transmitted from the transmission apparatus 10 and decodes it on the basis of the code rate of the LDPC code set individually for each bit of the symbol forming bits by set partitioning. |
