<p>The method involves determining an approach distance corresponding to a distance in a horizontal plane between actual and ground contact positions from a current value of flight parameters of an aircraft. The approach distance is provided to a pilot of the aircraft on a visual display unit (8) e.g. navigation display, relative to flight conditions. The distance is determined by calculating individual distances respectively with total heights at each time between successive change-over points using an equation, and by adding the calculated individual distances to obtain the approach distance. An independent claim is also included for a device for assisting flight control of an aircraft.</p> |
