Disclosed are a rough road detecting system and method which can compare a value, which is made by subtracting calculated slope from a moving mean value to a slope of an output signal of a fuel level sensor, with a preset threshold value to determine a rough road according to the compared result, thereby reducing manufacturing costs of a vehicle. The rough road detecting system includes a fuel level sensor diagnosing unit for diagnosing breakdown of a fuel level sensor mounted in a vehicle; a signal detecting unit for detecting an output signal of the fuel level sensor at a preset predetermined period if the fuel level sensor is normal; a signal slope calculating unit for calculating a slope of the detected fuel level signal; a mean value calculating unit for calculating a moving mean value to the slope of the calculated fuel level; and a rough road determining unit for comparing the calculation value between the calculated variation rate and the mean value with a preset threshold value to determine a rough road according to the compared result. |
