The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device and, more specifically, to a liquid crystal display device having two electric field generating electrodes which are located on the same substrate. The liquid crystal display device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a substrate; multiple first signal lines which are located on the substrate to be substantially extended in a first direction; a gate insulating film which is located on the first signal lines; multiple first electrodes which are located on the gate insulating film; a thin film transistor which is electrically connected to the first signal lines and includes the gate insulating film and the first electrodes; multiple pixel electrodes which are connected to the thin film transistor to receive data voltages by the thin film transistor; and a common electrode which is overlapped with the pixel electrodes interposing a first insulting layer, wherein either the pixel electrodes or the common electrode has a surface type, and the other includes multiple branch electrodes overlapping with the electrode(s) of the surface type. Furthermore, the length of the first direction of the pixel electrodes is longer than the length of a second direction vertical to the first direction of the pixel electrode, the branch electrodes are substantially extended parallel to the first signal lines, and the common electrode includes a portion overlapping with the first signal lines. |
