The present invention relates to a precursor for manufacturing a lithium transition metal oxide and, more specifically, provides: a transition metal precursor characterized by making the ratio of an average particle diameter (D50) and a tap density of the precursor satisfy the conditions of formula 1; and a lithium transition metal oxide manufactured by using the same.
