The method involves selecting a parametric model of external surface of a real object (101), and selecting initial sets of parameters of models (102). A parameterized model is projected (103) to an image by applying a physical shooting model. Adequacy between the projected model and the image is evaluated (104) according to pre-defined radiometric criteria. The parameters are modified by an optimization process exploiting the criteria as long as the adequacy is not optimal. Process from projection of the model is reiterated (105) with the parameters until a set of optimal parameters is found. The parameters of the model, for which the adequacy is best, are determined (106) from the optimal parameters for modeling the object with the parameters. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for detecting changes between images of same geographic zone taken at different instants (2) a system for modeling a real object represented in a geographically-referenced image of a terrestrial surface produced by an aerial or space sensor (3) a method for extracting a group of homologous points from geographically-referenced aerial or spatial images (4) a method for correcting shooting models associated with image (5) a system for resetting an image. |
