The device has a main support frame, which is fixed on a pivot head (7) and carries rails on its lower side for the horizontal movement of a crane fork arranged on a carrier frame. A fixing bracket-traverse is fixed in the upper area of the carrier frame and has guiding elements for vertical movement of a fixing bracket. A structural unit is arranged in the upper area of the carrier frame and has a light field sensor in the central front area. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for receiving horizontally mounted picked goods in the process of palletizing or depalletizing by a two-axis gripper; (2) a computer program for executing the method; and (3) a machine-readable medium for executing the method.
