The method involves activating position monitoring in a heating control device (14) for mobile terminals (20-1 - 20-4) i.e. mobile telephone in a vehicle, as soon as the mobile terminals leave a predetermined residential unit area (16). Presence reference temperature is switched to absence reference temperature based on reference temperature in the control device. Position data are transferred from the terminals to the control device, and position of the terminals is monitored. The absence reference temperature is controlled based on the position of the terminals.
