PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus which allows easy replacement of a rubbing member while preventing enlargement of the device, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus 1 includes a fixing belt 4 to be heated by heating means, and a pressure part roller 5 which comes into pressure contact with the fixing belt 4 to form a fixing nip. The fixing apparatus 1 conveys a recording medium with unfixed toner carried thereon to the fixing nip to fix a toner image to the recording medium. The fixing apparatus includes: a rubbing roller 72 which rubs a surface of the fixing belt 4 to recover surface property thereof; a separation plate 71 for separating the recording medium from the fixing belt 4 provided at an exit of the fixing nip; and a separation unit 70 having an opening formed on a surface facing the fixing belt 4 to arrange the separation plate 71 in the opening. The rubbing roller 72 is detachably housed in the separation unit 70 so as to come into contact with the fixing belt 4 through the opening of the separation unit 70. |
